Kael fell down on his bed, he was done, he was moved again, the doors clicked as those who helped him move, were gone. He knew he would not see them again. He would not see them again, well hopefully not. They were an organization that was not exactly known for their compassion, yet here he was, having been moved from almost four times.
“Kael, understand this is the last time we help you. You have to keep your true nature hidden, you understand that it is your own life you're protecting. If people see you, they will panic, and there are the Magi that hunt your kind. You have not technically been at fault these past times, but you must do a better job at hiding. We have done our best to reprimand the other parties, but as you know they have their families to protect them.” the man had spoken before he left. They were known only as the Hunters, a global organization that worked to keep Magic a secret from the entire world, perhaps a task easier said than done, as Earth was unique among worlds, it had become a Nexus, and many creatures called it home, yet the average population knew nothing.
Looking out the Window, a small flake of snow already started to fall. It was only mid October, shaking his head, well this was Canada. He had attended, now a couple, College across the US, each time having to relocate due to an incident, and now he had been moved across the border, to Canada. The city he was now in was called Waterloo, and there were two more Kitchener and Cambridge, he chuckled, as they barely compared to anything called cities in the States, but he was not about to share that opinion out loud. Yet it also reminded him that it was also October, and he probably had a month or more of school assignments to catch up on. He made his way to the door, opening it up, as he stepped out, he would feel another person crash right into him.
“Ouch…. Guess they would fill that room eventually” a younger looking man, obviously a fellow student., as he got back onto his feet. “Sorry for that, guess I was not looking, and that dorm room has been empty this entire time. I’m going to guess you're the new student.” standing there with a big grin, he extended his hand, “Jamie, Maxwell” Shaking his hand “Kael” he replied, as he remembered he would have to look at some of the documents left, he didn’t know what last name he was given. “I’m the one who should be apologizing, should have looked out into the hallway. You alright?”
“Yeah I’m fine, you a football player or something? Man you're like walking into a wall.” Jamie chuckled as grinned back, “Not that I walk into many walls to know. I’m guessing you're the new student? I think I share some classes with you, so I will lend you what I have for notes, to help you catch up.”
“Thanks, it's already been a month, the move came at unexpected time,” Kael replied, “I gotta get to the admin building to get my classes, I want to be able to attend classes as soon as I can. Talk to you later man” Kael, smiled and nodded, while he did not mean to trample the first person he met, that guy seemed friendly enough.
“My room is 307, two doors down from you.” Jamie hollered, as Kael was already opening the door to the staircase, sure there was an elevator, but he always took the stairs when he could, elevators always seemed so small to him. Hitting the first floor, he would exit out the main door. There were a number of students, coming and going, some in a hurry, some in a rush, as he would head to the Registrar's office.
Entering it, there would be a small line of other students, as he entered it, the student in front of him was a girl, long black hair, flowing down her back almost down to her waist. He couldn’t see much else, but what caught his attention didn’t happen till the reception announced her name “Vannessa McGuire”. He froze, and tense… that was the last name of the one who had caused him to need to relocate. A family name that had sworn to hunt him despite the warning of the Hunters” Was it only a coincidence that it was at another school, even after moving countries this time. Yet he paused, it was not a unique family name, others would have that name and not be connected with them.
“Micheal, Micheal Conner” the receptionist called his name, repeating it a second time with a last name, it was not his of course, but he was assigned that name by the Hunters. “Here is your class schedule. It had all his classes listed, what buildings, what rooms, and the times. Folding it up and putting it into his pocket. Glancing around that Vanessa girl was nowhere to be seen, as he headed back to his dorm room.”
